Paul Bettany Drops Hints on Vision’s Return and Teases Marvel’s Next Big Show

Marvel fans can expect Vision’s comeback in 2026, with new twists, familiar faces, and Bettany’s excitement about the show’s direction.

Paul Bettany is offering intriguing glimpses into his upcoming Marvel series, which will mark the android Vision’s long-awaited return. The show is slated to debut on Disney+ in 2026, reconnecting Bettany with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Bettany will once again portray Vision—the android who found love with Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) before being brutally destroyed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Fans saw his unexpected comeback in WandaVision, where he reappeared as a product of Wanda’s grief and as a rebuilt, ghostly-white android version of himself.

At the L.A. premiere of his latest film, Here, Bettany spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming series, revealing that production will begin next year. “We’re cooking up something that I’m really excited about,” he teased, joking that he couldn’t share more because “snitches end up in ditches.”

The actor also expressed enthusiasm for Agatha All Along, a WandaVision spinoff featuring Kathryn Hahn reprising her role as the mischievous Agatha Harkness. “I love it. I’m so proud of [showrunner] Jac Schaeffer,” Bettany said. “I’ll watch it again because there’s so much for me to learn as I prepare for my role in the new series.”

In addition to Bettany’s return, the upcoming Vision series will reintroduce James Spader as Ultron, the rogue AI created by Tony Stark in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Terry Matalas, known for his work on Star Trek: Picard, will serve as showrunner for the project, adding to fan excitement.

While Vision’s next chapter unfolds, Bettany is currently starring alongside Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Kelly Reilly, and Michelle Dockery in Robert Zemeckis’s Here. The film, shot in a single take, spans multiple generations of families within a single room.

Bettany praised the unique script and shared his surprise while reading it: “I realized I was playing Tom Hanks’ dad, and I thought, ‘How’s that going to work?’ But Bob [Zemeckis] figured it out. We had so much fun, and I got to chew out my son—America’s dad—so I guess I’m America’s granddad now.”
