Slater will play Dexter’s adoptive father, Harry Morgan, a role first played by James Remar. Brown will step into the shoes of Debra Morgan, Dexter’s sister, originally played by Jennifer Carpenter.

Announced in February 2023, the 10-episode series is set in 1991, 15 years before the events of the original “Dexter.” The official synopsis describes the series as following Dexter (Gibson) during his transition from student to avenging serial killer. Struggling with his bloodthirsty urges, Dexter learns to channel his darkness with the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater). He adopts a Code to help him eliminate those who deserve to be removed from society while avoiding law enforcement’s radar. This challenge intensifies as young Dexter starts a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
