The “Dexter” prequel series at Paramount+ with Showtime has revealed its main cast members. Patrick Gibson, Christian Slater, and Molly Brown are set to star in “Dexter: Original Sin,” Variety reports. Gibson will take on the role of Dexter Morgan, originally portrayed by Michael C. Hall. Slater will play Dexter’s adoptive father, Harry Morgan, a role first played by James Remar. Brown will step into the shoes of Debra Morgan, Dexter’s sister, originally played by Jennifer Carpenter.

Announced in February 2023, the 10-episode series is set in 1991, 15 years before the events of the original “Dexter.” The official synopsis describes the series as following Dexter (Gibson) during his transition from student to avenging serial killer. Struggling with his bloodthirsty urges, Dexter learns to channel his darkness with the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater). He adopts a Code to help him eliminate those who deserve to be removed from society while avoiding law enforcement’s radar. This challenge intensifies as young Dexter starts a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

Gibson’s notable TV credits include “Shadow and Bone” and “The OA” on Netflix, along with roles in films like “Tolkien,” “Good Girl Jane,” and “Property of the State.”

Slater is celebrated for his performances in “True Romance,” “Interview with the Vampire,” and “Heathers,” and he won a Golden Globe in 2016 for his role in the USA Network series “Mr. Robot.” His recent work includes “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” “Dr. Death,” and “Dirty John.”

Brown has appeared in series such as “Billions,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Evil,” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” In film, she is best known for her role in the comedy “Senior Year.”
