Parineeti Chopra Shares Sneak Peek of Amar Singh Chamkila Biopic, Pays Tribute to Legends

Parineeti Chopra recently unveiled a captivating video montage showcasing the real-life personas of iconic Punjabi singers Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot, juxtaposed with their reel portrayals by Diljit Dosanjh and herself, respectively. This teaser was released amidst the anticipation surrounding the upcoming biopic “Amar Singh Chamkila,” in which Chopra essays the role of Amarjot, while Dosanjh takes on the titular character.
Expressing her excitement, Chopra shared in the caption, “Diljit and I have been honored to step into the shoes of two music legends who reshaped India’s musical landscape… Bringing their essence to life on screen has been an exhilarating journey. Can’t wait to unveil the world of Chamkila to all. And none of this would’ve been the same without my partner-in-crime Diljit Dosanjh.”
The film delves into the life of the renowned singer Chamkila, whose tragic demise at the age of 27 in 1988 shook the music industry. Chamkila, hailed as Punjab’s top-selling recording artist of his time, left an indelible mark on Punjabi music. Alongside Chopra’s portrayal of Amarjot, his frequent musical collaborator, Dosanjh delivers a compelling performance in the lead role.
Reflecting on her experience, Chopra expressed gratitude, saying, “I’m profoundly thankful for ‘Chamkila.’ Imtiaz Ali Sir, your directorial finesse was unparalleled; you steered the ship with unparalleled finesse. Diljit Dosanjh, you were the perfect co-star, infusing every moment on set with joy and ease. AR Rahman Sir, being musically guided by you – a dream come true. And to the entire team behind the film, shooting this has been a pinnacle experience for me, blending two of my greatest passions – singing and acting.”
Chopra’s sneak peek offers a glimpse into what promises to be a tribute to two legends, capturing the essence of their lives and contributions to Punjabi music, while also celebrating their enduring legacy on the silver screen.
