Paramount+ Renews ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ for Season 3, Jeremy Renner Returns Despite Injury

American crime thriller television series created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ has been officially renewed for a third season for Paramount+.

The plot of the series is set in Kingstown, Michigan, which is a fictional company town where the business is incarceration. For decades, the McLusky family has kept the peace in Kingstown by acting as mediators for street gangs, convicts, guards, and cops. The series, which tackles topics of institutional racism, corruption, and inequality, delivers a sharp look at their struggle to restore order and justice to a community that lacks both.

Sheridan and Dillon also serve as executive producers alongside Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, and Regina Corrado. The series is produced in-house by MTV Studios and 101 Studios.

Jeremy Renner, who sustained 30 broken bones injuries in a New Year’s Day snowplow accident, will be returning to his starring role of Mike McLusky.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that according to sources, the series, which concluded its second season in March 2023, was renewed for another season months ago, but the streamer deferred an official announcement while Jeremy was recovering.

In May 2023, Jeremy posted about his recovery progress on his social media, mentioning he had started lightly jogging on a treadmill for the first time since he started his treatment.

A release date for ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ season three is yet to be determined, considering Jeremy Renner’s recovery and the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
