New Series in “The Office” Universe: Greg Daniels Teams Up with Michael Koman

In a bid to expand the beloved world of Dunder Mifflin, Greg Daniels, the mastermind behind “The Office,” is venturing into a new project. Sources have revealed to Variety that Daniels has enlisted the expertise of Michael Koman, co-creator of “Nathan for You,” to spearhead this endeavor.
The collaboration between Daniels and Koman marks the genesis of a potential new series, currently in the developmental phase under Universal Television. Although not a reboot of “The Office,” the forthcoming series shares its universe, promising fresh characters and settings.
In January 2024, Daniels initiated a development room to embark on this new journey within the realm of the acclaimed NBC mockumentary sitcom. Originally adapted from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s British series, the American iteration of “The Office” captivated audiences from 2005 to 2013, chronicling the quirky dynamics of a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The show boasted a stellar ensemble cast including Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms, Mindy Kaling, and B.J. Novak.
Michael Koman brings a wealth of experience in crafting television that blurs the boundaries between fiction and reality. Best known as the co-creator of “Nathan for You” alongside Nathan Fielder, Koman’s repertoire extends to acclaimed shows like “Saturday Night Live,” “The Colbert Report,” “How To With John Wilson,” and “Late Night With Conan O’Brien,” earning him an Emmy Award for his contributions. More recently, Koman showcased his talents as a writer and co-executive producer on “Girls5Eva.”
The initial report of this collaboration was first disclosed by Deadline.
