New Leadership Takes the Helm for Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender Adaptation
Showrunner Departure Paves the Way for Fresh Vision in the Epic Series

In a surprising turn of events, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender sees a change in leadership as showrunner Albert Kim steps down, making room for a new creative duo to guide the series forward.
According to Variety, Jabbar Raisani, known for his work on Lost in Space, and Christine Boylan, acclaimed for Poker Face, are set to take the reins as executive producers for the upcoming seasons of Netflix’s Avatar. Although Netflix has not yet made an official statement regarding this transition, insiders reveal that Kim is set to join Disney Plus, where he will oversee the streaming platform’s new Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, along with spearheading other innovative projects.
Kim assumed the role of showrunner for Avatar in 2020, following the departure of Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, the original co-creators of Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series. Their exit was attributed to creative disparities, leading Konietzko and DiMartino back to Nickelodeon to establish Avatar Studios, dedicated to expanding the rich universe they had crafted. With Raisani and Boylan now at the helm, the series is poised for a fresh perspective. Given the mixed reception of its initial season, the impending changes hold promise for an enhanced viewing experience.
