Netflix Unveils Release Date for Imtiaz Ali’s “Chamkila” Featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra

Netflix has at last disclosed the release date for the much-anticipated film “Chamkila,” set to premiere on April 12th. The streaming giant shared a teaser clip featuring Diljit Dosanjh on Instagram, stirring up excitement among fans. Alongside Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra assumes a pivotal role in the movie.

In the snippet shared by Netflix, the caption reads, “Maahaul bann jaata tha jab vo chedta tha saaz, kuch aisa hi tha Chamkila ka Andaaz” (A crowd would gather when he sang, such was his style). This collaboration marks the first on-screen venture between Diljit and renowned filmmaker Imtiaz Ali.

“Chamkila” delves into the untold saga of Amar Singh Chamkila, Punjab’s pioneering rock star with mass appeal. Under Imtiaz Ali’s meticulous direction, the film portrays the lives of Amarjot Kaur and Amar Singh Chamkila as central characters. Parineeti Chopra is slated to portray Amarjot, while Diljit embodies the role of Chamkila.

The tragic events of March 8, 1988, when Amar Singh Chamkila, his wife Amarjot Kaur, and their band members were assassinated, form the backdrop of the narrative.
