Netflix Renews ‘Disenchantment’ for Fifth and Final Season, Premiering September 1, 2023

Matt Groening’s Animated Fantasy Sitcom Comes to an Epic Conclusion

On August 1, 2023, Netflix announced that the American animated fantasy sitcom, ‘Disenchantment’ has been renewed and will come to an end with an upcoming fifth and final season.

Netflix also announced that the final season with ten episodes will premiere on September 1, 2023, and also released a teaser for the finale. The series is created by Matt Groening, who also created ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Futurama.’

The series chronicles the narrative of the adventurous, rebellious, alcoholic princess Bean, her “personal demon” Luci, and their elf friend Elfo in the fabled medieval European kingdom of Dreamland. The troupe travels Dreamland and other neighboring places in four sections, unraveling a mythical conspiracy.

In 2017, the animated series made its first debut with a 20-episode order in two batches of 10 episodes, followed by the second season, which followed the same order. The latest episodes were released in February 2022.

The voice artists for the series include Abbi Jacobson, Eric Andre, Nat Faxon, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry, Noel Fielding, Meredith Hagner, David Herman, Sharon Horgan, Maurice LaMarche, Lucy Montgomery, and Billy West.

Rough Draft Studios is in charge of the animation of the series, which is produced by The ULULU Company for Netflix and is executive produced by Groening and Josh Weinstein.
