Netflix and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Collaborate on F1 Academy Docuseries
Joining Forces to Spotlight Women in Formula 1 Racing’s Developmental Division

Netflix is once again expanding its footprint in the world of Formula 1 racing, this time with the backing of Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine.
Hello Sunshine is set to produce a captivating docuseries titled F1 Academy, shedding light on the women-only developmental division within the racing circuit. Currently in production, the series is scheduled to debut on Netflix in 2025, adding to the streaming giant’s roster of sports documentary programming, which already includes the popular Formula 1: Drive to Survive.
Reese Witherspoon, expressing her enthusiasm for the project, stated, “We launched Hello Sunshine with the aim of reshaping the narrative for women, and Susie Wolff and F1 Academy are achieving just that by paving the way for new opportunities in the exhilarating world of motorsport. As these bold and determined drivers shatter barriers behind the wheel, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Netflix in narrating the journeys of these influential leaders. It’s evident that when we place women at the forefront, audiences are drawn in.”
F1 Academy was established by Formula 1 in late 2022, with its inaugural season held the following year. The initiative aims to nurture young female drivers, providing them with a pathway to progress through the ranks of the sport. Spearheading the program is Susie Wolff, a former professional driver herself.
“Our goal is to ignite female participation in our sport, both on and off the track,” explained Wolff. “The global launch of the F1 Academy docuseries on Netflix signifies not only a significant leap in visibility for our cause but also a powerful declaration of the growing momentum and interest in women’s sports. Our mission is to inspire and empower the next generation of young women, and through Netflix, F1 Academy will resonate with a worldwide audience of current and prospective fans.”
