Neeraj Chopra Says It’s “Too Early” for a Biopic
The Olympic champion believes biopics should capture an athlete’s entire career and admits acting isn’t his cup of tea, despite appearing in commercials.

The wave of successful sports biopics, from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, has fueled speculation about a film on Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra. However, the athlete feels it’s not yet time for his life story to be portrayed on the big screen.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Chopra explained his stance on the idea of a biopic. “I believe biopics should be made after retirement. When the entire journey is complete, only then can all the key moments be properly showcased,” he said. He also expressed a desire to contribute more to the sport and popularize javelin in India before his story is immortalized in film.
Fans eager for a Chopra biopic have been curious about who might portray the javelin star on screen. While Chopra admits he isn’t certain about the perfect actor, he did suggest Randeep Hooda. “I can only think of Randeep Hooda. He’s a great actor and from Haryana, so he’ll get the language right,” Chopra remarked.
When asked if he would ever consider playing himself in a potential movie, the 26-year-old was quick to dismiss the idea. Despite appearing in advertisements, Chopra confessed that acting isn’t easy for him. “Even shooting commercials is tough for me, maybe because acting isn’t my thing,” he admitted with a laugh.
With his sights firmly set on achieving more in his sport, Chopra believes the time for his biopic will come—but only when his journey is truly complete.
