The trailer for the upcoming biographical thriller Costao has been unveiled, offering a compelling glimpse into the life of the late customs officer Costao Fernandes. Renowned actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui takes on the titular role, portraying Fernandes’ courageous stand against Goa’s formidable smuggling networks during the 1990s.
Directed by Sejal Shah, the film delves into Fernandes’ daring operations that disrupted major gold smuggling schemes in India. The narrative captures the essence of a lone officer’s battle against systemic corruption, highlighting his unwavering dedication and bravery.
Joining Siddiqui is acclaimed Marathi actress Priya Bapat, who portrays a pivotal character in the story. Bapat expressed her enthusiasm for the project, noting the compelling script and the enriching experience of working alongside Siddiqui.
The screenplay, penned by National Award-winning writer Bhavesh Mandalia, aims to blend intense drama with nostalgic elements from the 1990s. Filming is currently underway in Mumbai, with plans to shoot action sequences in Goa.
