Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo to Star in Lena Dunham’s Bold New Netflix Rom-Com ‘Good Sex’

Romantic comedy explores age-gap relationships as Portman’s character navigates love with two men in New York City.

Netflix has acquired the global rights to Good Sex, a romantic comedy directed by Lena Dunham and starring Natalie Portman, in a deal valued at approximately $55 million.

The film follows Ally (Portman), a couples’ therapist approaching 40, who re-enters the New York dating scene after a decade-long relationship ends. She becomes involved with two men: a 20-something Brooklyn hipster and a successful man in his 50s, leading her to confront her desires and identity.

Mark Ruffalo and singer-songwriter Tucker Pillsbury, known as Role Model, are set to star alongside Portman. Pillsbury will make his acting debut in the film.

Dunham, known for HBO’s Girls, wrote and directed the film. Portman and Sophie Mas are producing through their company MountainA, while Dunham and Michael Cohen produce under Good Thing Going Productions.

Filming is expected to take place in New Jersey, with a release date yet to be announced.
