Mubi Lands Record-Breaking $24M Deal for Jennifer Lawrence’s Die My Love

Streaming platform Mubi wins a fierce bidding war for global rights to Lynne Ramsay’s intense psychological drama, marking its biggest acquisition to date and a potential Oscar contender.

In a landmark move that has sent shockwaves through Cannes, Mubi has emerged victorious in a fierce bidding war for Die My Love, Jennifer Lawrence’s latest psychological drama directed by Lynne Ramsay. The film, which premiered Saturday night at the Cannes Film Festival, has now become the biggest acquisition in Mubi’s history—closing at a staggering $24 million deal.

The pact includes full domestic theatrical distribution across 1,500 screens for a 45-day window, demonstrating Mubi’s growing ambition to make an impact beyond streaming. The deal spans key territories, including North America, Latin America, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Benelux, Turkey, India, Australia, and New Zealand.

The film, adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s haunting 2017 novel of the same name, follows a married woman’s mental unraveling as she battles post-natal depression in rural America. Lawrence delivers what critics are calling one of her boldest performances yet, supported by a strong cast featuring Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek, and Nick Nolte. Pattinson plays her husband, while Stanfield portrays her lover.

Despite mixed early reviews, Lawrence’s powerhouse performance is generating serious awards buzz. Mubi’s acquisition comes on the heels of its success with The Substance, further cementing the company’s commitment to bold, prestige cinema. The distribution deal was brokered by CAA Media Finance and veteran sales executive Patrick Wachsberger through his new company, 193, marking its first major success.

Apple and Neon were reportedly among the other major players vying for the rights, but Mubi’s theatrical strategy and creative synergy with the filmmakers ultimately sealed the deal. With Die My Love, the platform is not just chasing festival glory—it’s gunning for awards season dominance.
