Minions 3 Set for June 2027 Release

Illumination and Universal Announce New Installment Following Despicable Me 4 Success

After the successful debut of Despicable Me 4 at the box office, Illumination and Universal have announced that Minions 3 is slated for release on June 30, 2027.

Brian Lynch, known for his work on Minions and The Secret Life of Pets films, is penning the script. The film will be directed by Pierre Coffin, a veteran of the Despicable Me and Minions franchises, who has also voiced the Minions since their 2010 debut.

Chris Meledandri, Illumination founder and CEO, will produce Minions 3 alongside Bill Ryan, who executive produced The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

More than a decade after their creation, the Minions have become iconic animated characters, contributing to the Despicable Me and Minions movies’ nearly $5 billion global box office haul. The franchise boasts Minions, one of the highest-grossing animated films ever, and the Oscar-nominated Despicable Me 2 and Despicable Me 3, each earning over $1 billion globally.

In 2022, Minions: The Rise of Gru broke records with the highest-grossing Fourth of July opening weekend in domestic history. This year’s Despicable Me 4 further cemented the Minions’ enduring popularity, opening to $230 million worldwide.
