Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Breaks Records as Netflix’s Most-Streamed Sporting Event

Historic Boxing Match Draws 108 Million Viewers Despite Technical Glitches

Netflix’s live-streamed boxing showdown between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul shattered records, attracting 108 million viewers worldwide, the platform revealed Tuesday. With an average minute audience (AMA) of 108 million globally, the event has become the “most streamed global sporting event ever,” according to Netflix. Peak viewership hit 65 million concurrent streams, including 38 million in the U.S.

The Tyson-Paul bout dominated Netflix’s weekly charts with 46.6 million additional views by Sunday night. Notably, the event also included a co-main clash between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, which averaged 74 million live viewers globally, marking the most-watched women’s professional sports event in U.S. history with 47 million AMA domestically.

The main event saw Jake Paul, 27, secure a unanimous decision victory over the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson after eight rounds. The undercard featured a controversial rematch between Taylor and Serrano, where Taylor retained her title via another disputed unanimous decision. Other notable bouts included Mario Barrios vs. Abel Ramos, ending in a split draw, and Neeraj Goyat defeating Whindersson Nunes via unanimous decision.

Despite the record-breaking numbers, the event was marred by technical difficulties. Many viewers reported issues with lagging and buffering—a recurring problem for Netflix’s live events, reminiscent of the platform’s troubled Love Is Blind reunion special, which suffered similar glitches earlier this year.
