Marvel Unleashes Deadpool & Wolverine at CinemaCon, Breaking Tradition
R-Rated Antics and Multiverse Mayhem Steal the Show in Disney’s Unconventional Presentation

In an unconventional twist, Disney’s CinemaCon presentation took a raunchy turn as the R-rated antics of Deadpool & Wolverine stole the spotlight. Gone were the family-friendly norms of past years as Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s titular characters dominated the stage with a flurry of irreverent humor and multiverse mayhem.
The event kicked off with a humorous “silence your phone” skit featuring Deadpool and Wolverine, teasing rumors about Secret Wars and the upcoming Avengers flick. However, their banter was repeatedly interrupted by errant cellphones, prompting Wolverine to unleash a flurry of F-bombs in frustration.
Audiences were treated to an extensive preview of the film, which delves into the complexities of the multiverse with plenty of double entendres and nods to Hollywood, Marvel, and Disney. Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige didn’t hold back his enthusiasm, declaring the footage “f**king awesome” and dropping a few more expletives for good measure.
Director Shawn Levy then took the stage to showcase nine minutes of spoiler-free scenes, offering glimpses into Wade Wilson’s post-superhero life and his amusing encounters with the Time Variance Authority. The crowd erupted in laughter, proving the film’s comedic prowess.
Marvel Studios is banking heavily on Deadpool & Wolverine, slated for a July 26 release and marking their first foray into R-rated territory. With a dial back on their usual film output, the studio is going all-in on this project, which also serves as their first franchise from the 20th Century Fox acquisition.
As Wade Wilson cheekily proclaimed in the footage, “I am the messiah. I am Marvel Jesus.”
