Marvel Delays ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’

Disney Reschedules Major MCU Releases; ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Takes Prime Summer Slot in 2026

Marvel Studios has announced a shift in its release schedule for two of its most anticipated films. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is now set to premiere on December 18, 2026, moving from its original May 1, 2026 date. Similarly, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ has been postponed to December 17, 2027, from its initial May 7, 2027 release. To fill the vacated summer slot, Disney has slated ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ for release on May 1, 2026.

The delay comes as Marvel embarks on an ambitious expansion of its cinematic universe. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ boasts a star-studded ensemble, including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, and newcomers from the Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises. Notably, Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU, not as Iron Man, but portraying the iconic villain Doctor Doom.

The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the duo behind ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’. Production is currently underway, with filming taking place at Pinewood Studios in England.

In addition to the Avengers films, Disney has announced that Ridley Scott’s apocalyptic thriller ‘The Dog Stars’ will hit theaters on March 27, 2026. The film stars Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, and Josh Brolin, and is based on the novel by Peter Heller.

These scheduling changes reflect Marvel’s commitment to delivering high-quality content, ensuring that each film meets the studio’s standards and fan expectations.
