“Man of Tomorrow” Soars Into 2027: Superman’s Next Epic from James Gunn Lands July Release

James Gunn officially unveils the title of the upcoming Superman sequel, teaming up David Corenswet’s Man of Steel with a new high-tech threat and setting a summer 2027 blockbuster stage.

James Gunn has officially announced the next chapter in his revitalized Superman saga. Revealed via social media, the sequel is titled Man of Tomorrow and is scheduled to debut in theaters on July 9, 2027.

To accompany the announcement, Gunn shared striking concept art—crafted by DC legend Jim Lee—depicting Superman (David Corenswet) standing beside his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), clad in a formidable powersuit. In a playful detail, Superman is shown holding a screwdriver, hinting at an intriguing dynamic, perhaps a reluctant alliance or unexpected twist in Luthor’s plans.

While set within the same “Superman Saga” universe, Gunn emphasized that this film is not simply a Superman 2, but rather a continuation within a broader storytelling framework. Gunn has already completed a detailed 60-page treatment and is now expanding it into a full screenplay.

This sequel continues the momentum of DC Studios’ ambitious release schedule. Before Man of Tomorrow lands in 2027, audiences will see:

Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock, set for June 26, 2026.

Clayface, a dark body-horror reimagining of the classic villain, scheduled for September 2026.

This rollout ensures that the Superman sequel will arrive months before Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II, slated for October 1, 2027.

Mark your calendars: July 9, 2027 promises to deliver Superman’s most thrilling big-screen battle yet.
