Leo Film Makers Respond to Controversy with Revised Naa Ready Poster, Vijay Drops Cigarette
In response to recent controversies surrounding Vijay’s upcoming film, Leo producers have taken action to revise the promotional materials. Vijay, alongside co-star Trisha Krishnan, is set to star in the highly-anticipated movie directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film, titled “Leo,” has been making headlines since its inception.
On Vijay’s birthday in June, the team released the opening track of the Leo soundtrack, titled “Naa Ready.” However, the song faced swift backlash as it was alleged to promote smoking and drug use. This outcry led to a police complaint against Vijay soon after the song’s release. In a bid to address the concerns and generate positive buzz for the movie, the filmmakers have now introduced a modified Naa Ready poster. Notably, the new poster no longer features Vijay with a cigarette.
In a move aimed at widening the song’s reach, the makers of Naa Ready announced that the track will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. This announcement coincided with the unveiling of the revamped poster, sans the contentious cigarette image.
The musical composition for Naa Ready is the work of the young and renowned Anirudh Ravichander. The first song from the movie, released on Vijay’s 49th birthday, garnered immense attention. Within just five days of its release, the song’s music video amassed an impressive 33 million views and received 1.9 million likes on YouTube. Naa Ready, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, offered viewers a glimpse of the movie’s plot through its lyrics and visuals. In the music video, Vijay is seen dancing with friends in a large arena, although this time, he no longer has a cigarette in the corner of his mouth, as depicted in the earlier version of the poster.
