Krrish 4 Faces Major Setbacks: Director Rakesh Roshan Steps Down Amidst Budget Concerns
The highly anticipated sequel encounters delays as the veteran filmmaker passes the directorial baton, with production hindered by a staggering ₹700 crore budget.

The much-anticipated fourth installment of the Krrish franchise has encountered significant hurdles, leading to delays in its production. Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who directed the previous films in the series, has announced his decision to step down from the director’s chair for ‘Krrish 4’. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Roshan stated, “The day has to come when I have to pass on the baton. So, it’s better I do it when I am in my senses, so that I can overlook the process as well and ascertain whether he’s doing it correctly or not.”
This transition comes amid reports of a colossal budget estimated at ₹700 crore for ‘Krrish 4′, making it challenging for studios to commit to the project. Initially, Hrithik Roshan had entrusted his friend Siddharth Anand, who was also involved as a producer, to secure a suitable studio. However, concerns about the film’s relevance in the current cinematic landscape have led to studios’ hesitance, resulting in Siddharth Anand and his production company, Marflix, stepping away from the project.

The departure of Siddharth Anand has also led to director Karan Malhotra, who was brought on board by Anand, exiting the project. This series of setbacks has pushed the expected release of ‘Krrish 4’ to 2026, as the search for a new director and production team begins.
Despite these challenges, Rakesh Roshan remains optimistic about the future of the franchise. He emphasized the necessity of passing on the directorial responsibilities while he can still oversee the process, ensuring the film aligns with his vision. Roshan acknowledged the inherent risks but expressed confidence in the potential for success under new direction.
As the project undergoes these significant changes, fans eagerly await further announcements regarding the new director and production plans for ‘Krrish 4’. The film’s development continues to be a topic of keen interest, reflecting the enduring popularity of the Krrish series in Indian cinema.
