Katy O’Brian Joins Glen Powell in Edgar Wright’s Adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man

The rising star teams up with Wright and Powell for the action-packed remake, set to hit theaters in November 2025

Katy O’Brian, known for her standout role in Love Lies Bleeding, has signed on to star alongside Glen Powell in The Running Man, Paramount’s upcoming adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Directed by Edgar Wright, the film is set for a November 21, 2025 release.

Based on King’s 1982 novel, written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, The Running Man takes place in a dystopian 2025 where a totalitarian government distracts and controls the public through violent, high-stakes game shows. The story follows a man, desperate for money to save his sick daughter, who enters the most dangerous show of all: The Running Man, where contestants are hunted by professional killers. The longer a contestant survives, the more money they earn, but as the game goes on, it becomes clear this contestant is willing to break all the rules to expose the show’s dark truth.

Glen Powell will play the lead, the desperate man fighting to survive. O’Brian is set to portray one of the other contestants in the deadly competition.

Edgar Wright co-wrote the script with Michael Bacall, while Simon Kinberg, Nira Park, and Wright are producing the film.

O’Brian has been building momentum since her role in Love Lies Bleeding, where she starred opposite Kristen Stewart as a bodybuilder who falls in love with Stewart’s gym manager. The film had a successful debut at Sundance and was distributed by A24. Since then, O’Brian has landed roles in Mission: Impossible for Paramount and starred alongside Powell in Universal’s summer hit Twisters.

With her ever-growing list of credits, O’Brian continues her hot streak, and her involvement in The Running Man marks yet another major step in her rising career.
