Kareena Kapoor Stars in Hansal Mehta’s Latest Film ‘The Buckingham Murders’

Unveiled at BFI London Film Festival

In a thrilling revelation at the BFI London Film Festival, the world bore witness to the debut of Hansal Mehta’s eagerly awaited project, “The Buckingham Murders,” featuring none other than Bollywood sensation Kareena Kapoor. The leading lady herself took to Instagram on Sunday, teasing her devoted fan base with a tantalizing glimpse of her character from the forthcoming film, all the while shrouded in a mysterious fog on the film’s set.

In her Instagram post, Kareena Kapoor shared a series of fresh images alongside a sneak peek of her character in this cinematic suspense. Reflecting on her role, she began, “Jas was a character I’ve longed to portray for the past 23 years, as a fervent admirer of the detective genre. From classics like ‘Karamchand’ to Helen Mirren’s ‘Prime Suspect,’ Agatha Christie’s ‘Hercule Poirot,’ and Kate Winslet in ‘Mare of Easttown,’ I’ve yearned to step into the shoes of a formidable detective. When I delved into the 25-page synopsis provided by Hansal and Ekta, I began at 1 a.m., and it became evident that I had found the woman I aspired to become.”

Further elaborating on her collaboration with the innovative film’s producer, Ektaa Kapoor, and director Hansal Mehta, Kareena expressed, “Ekta, Hansal, and I embarked on a journey to craft a somewhat unconventional yet heartwarming film, one that invokes both smiles and tears. After its showcase at the British Film Institute last night, as this film commences its voyage in the realm of cinema, I find myself brimming with a unique blend of anticipation and exhilaration as an actor and a novice producer. It feels surreal to pen down these words (laughing face emoticon), but I’m genuinely thrilled.”
