Josh O’Connor Joins Emily Blunt in Steven Spielberg’s Next Movie#

A Star-Studded Cast, a Mystery Plot, and a 2026 Summer Release Promise to Thrill Fans

Josh O’Connor is set to share the screen with Emily Blunt in a highly anticipated untitled film from Steven Spielberg, Amblin, and Universal. The project also boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson, signaling a cinematic spectacle in the making.

Based on a story by Spielberg himself, the script is being crafted by his trusted collaborator David Koepp. While plot details remain a closely guarded secret, the film is slated for release on May 15, 2026, placing it squarely in the coveted summer blockbuster window—a season Spielberg helped define with classics like Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark. This marks Spielberg’s return to the summer tentpole arena after a long hiatus.

Produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger, the project is shrouded in secrecy, with Universal and Amblin declining to comment further.

O’Connor is on a career hot streak, having recently starred in Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, which raked in nearly $100 million worldwide. He’s also filming Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind alongside Alana Haim and will appear in Rian Johnson’s upcoming Knives Out sequel, Wake Up Dead Man, set to hit Netflix next year.
