Speaking to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show,” the two-time Oscar winner explained that, despite the tempting offer, she declined due to a prior contractual commitment with Disney for an undisclosed project, possibly around the time of the release of “Freaky Friday,” a film that hit theaters a year before “Star Wars.”

Fallon, acknowledging Foster’s numerous iconic roles, inquired about the rumor circulating on the internet: “You were offered the role of Princess Leia in ‘Star Wars,’ is that true?” Foster confirmed the offer, elaborating on her decision: “They were going for a younger Princess Leia, but I had a conflict.
