Jessica Biel Exits Peacock’s ‘The Good Daughter’ Adaptation
The search for a new lead begins as the psychological thriller series, based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling novel, moves forward.

According to Deadline Jessica Biel has officially stepped away from her starring role and executive producer duties on Peacock’s highly anticipated limited series, The Good Daughter, a psychological suspense thriller. While details surrounding her departure remain unclear, the production team is actively searching for a new actress to take on the role of Charlotte Quinn, a central character Biel was originally set to portray. A replacement is expected to be announced soon.
The series, which was given a straight-to-series order by NBCU’s streaming service in March, is based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling novel of the same name. Slaughter is deeply involved in the project, having written all episodes and serving as an executive producer, alongside Fifth Season and Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories.
The Good Daughter tells the gripping story of sisters Charlotte and Samantha Quinn, whose lives were shattered by a night of violence nearly three decades ago. Now adults, the two continue to grapple with the emotional fallout of that night. When another brutal attack rocks their small town of Pikeville, Charlotte—now a lawyer—finds herself at the center of the case, forcing her to confront buried trauma. As the investigation unfolds, both Charlotte and Samantha are left to question whether the sacrifices they’ve made in their quest to be “the good daughter” were truly worth it.
Biel’s departure comes after she wrapped filming on another thriller series, The Better Sister, for Prime Video. In that project, she stars alongside Elizabeth Banks as estranged siblings Chloe and Nicky, respectively. Both Biel and Banks also took on executive producer roles for the series, which is based on Alafair Burke’s novel of the same name.
