Jerrod Carmichael to host Golden Globes

The 80th Golden Globe Awards, which will air on NBC next month, will be hosted by Emmy-winning comedian Jerrod Carmichael, according to NBC, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and show producer Dick Clark Prods. On Thursday, we planned to make the Carmichael announcement.

Helen Hoehne, the HFPA’s president, made a statement, “We’re so excited to have Jerrod Carmichael host the historic 80th Golden Globe Awards,”

“His comedic talents have entertained and thrilled audiences while providing thought-provoking moments that are so important in the times we live. Jerrod is the special kind of talent this show calls for to kick off the awards season.”

Carmichael, who featured in three seasons of the highly regarded sitcom “The Carmichael Show” on NBC from 2015 to 2017, is sort of returning home. More recently, in April, he served as a guest host on an edition of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” (SNL).
