Following the success of the 2024 action thriller “The Beekeeper,” Jason Statham is reprising his role in a forthcoming sequel. The original film, directed by David Ayer and penned by Kurt Wimmer, centers on a retired intelligence operative who embarks on a quest for vengeance after his cherished landlady falls victim to a phishing scam. The movie garnered positive reviews and amassed $153 million globally.

Miramax is set to produce and finance the sequel, with production scheduled to commence in the fall. Timo Tjahjanto, known for his work on the upcoming action film “Nobody 2,” will take over the director’s chair from Ayer. Screenwriter Kurt Wimmer returns to script the follow-up installment.

Statham will continue his involvement behind the scenes, producing through his company Punch Palace Productions, alongside Chris Long of Long Shot Productions. The original cast featured Emmy Raver-Lampman, Minnie Driver, Josh Hutcherson, and Jeremy Irons.
