How Animal Became Triptii Dimri’s Turning Point
From heartbreak after Laila Majnu to rising fame with Bulbbul, Qala and a scene-stealing cameo in Animal, Triptii Dimri reflects on how one film reshaped her life and career

Triptii Dimri, already admired for her work in Laila Majnu, Bulbbul, and Qala, has opened up about how her journey in films transformed after Animal. Despite her limited screen time, the role catapulted her into overnight stardom and gave her the recognition she had once hoped for much earlier in her career.
She recalls that while Laila Majnu will always be special, its lack of commercial success left her disheartened. She and co-star Avinash Tiwary had poured themselves into the film, even staying in locals’ homes in Kashmir and immersing in the beauty of the region. When the film failed to find an audience, she felt as though they were back at zero. While she had been in the industry for just a couple of years then, Avinash had been waiting for nearly 14 years, which made her feel even more for him.
Her fortunes began to change with Bulbbul, which gave her a new identity on the OTT platform and showcased her depth as an actor. Later, Qala reinforced her standing as a performer who could hold her own in complex roles.
But it was Animal that turned out to be her true breakthrough. Triptii admits that she initially doubted whether such a short role would make any impact, but director Sandeep Reddy Vanga assured her that it would prove significant. Looking back, she calls the film a blessing, one that not only brought her immense love from audiences but also drove people to revisit her earlier work.
For Triptii, the recognition she once longed for during Laila Majnu finally arrived with Animal. She says the film changed her life completely, giving her confidence and a connection with audiences that every actor dreams of.
