HBO Renews ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ For Season 4

With the third-season finale slated to be released on July 30, 2023, HBO announced the renewal of the dark comedy series, ‘The Righteous Gemstones,’ for a fourth season.

However, the production of season four will not start until after Hollywood strikes come to an end.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the Executive vp HBO Programming and head of HBO and Max comedy series said,

“Get ready for more of the hilarious adrenaline ride that is ‘The Righteous Gemstones.’ As this truly biblical season comes to a close on Sunday night, I am delighted to announce that we are picking up a fourth season.”

The premise of the series follows a family of televangelists and megachurch pastors led by widowed patriarch Eli Gemstone, played by John Goodman. Eli and his immature children, Jesse, played by Danny McBride, Judy, by Edi Patterson, and Kelvin, by Adam DeVine, lead lavish lives financed by church donations.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the third season is averaging 4.9 million cross-platform viewers per episode since its debut on June 18 and is on its way to become the most watched of the series till date.

Danny McBride, along with frequent collaborators Jody Hill and David Gordon Green, also direct the series. The executive producers of ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ include John Carcieri, Jeff Fradley, and Brandon James.
