HBO Confirms “Euphoria” Season 3 is Set to Begin Filming in January 2025
HBO Exec Casey Bloys assures fans Season 3 is moving forward, with all main cast members on board amid high-profile projects and rumors.

“Euphoria” Season 3 is officially set to start filming in January 2025, nearly three years after the last season aired, according to HBO and Max executive Casey Bloys. Despite swirling rumors about delays due to cast scheduling conflicts, Bloys assured fans at a recent HBO/Max press event that the show remains on track. “We are shooting ‘Euphoria,’” Bloys stated. “We have a start date, mid to late January. Nothing’s changed. There were online speculations, but we are moving ahead. I’ve read the scripts, and all the actors are committed.”
While “Euphoria” has transformed its cast into Hollywood stars, many key actors have lined up additional projects in 2025, sparking questions about the production’s timeline. Zendaya, for instance, recently signed on to star in Christopher Nolan’s new film, anticipated to begin filming in early 2025. She may also reprise her role as MJ in Marvel’s “Spider-Man 4,” which is set to shoot next year. Jacob Elordi, who portrays Nate, is also committed to Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of “Wuthering Heights” with Margot Robbie, slated to film in the U.K. during 2025.
“I know there’s a lot of attention around the show, given that some of its cast members have become major film stars,” Bloys continued, “but we’re sticking to the schedule. Season 3 will have eight episodes, and nothing has changed.”
Returning for Season 3 are stars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Storm Reid, Alexa Demie, and Eric Dane. Sadly, Angus Cloud, who portrayed Fezco, passed away in July 2023 at age 25, and Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat, previously announced she would not be returning for another season.
Series creator Sam Levinson initially presented Season 3 ideas to HBO in late 2023, which included a five-year time jump and a potential arc for Zendaya’s character Rue, where she would work as a private investigator. HBO, however, paused production to ensure the storyline aligned with the show’s previous seasons’ tone and depth.
“Euphoria” has been a massive success for HBO, garnering impressive ratings and awards, including 25 Emmy nominations and nine wins. Zendaya has won twice for best actress in a drama, while Colman Domingo won best guest actor. Levinson also won a Directors Guild of America (DGA) award for his work on Season 2.
Beyond her lead role, Zendaya serves as an executive producer on the show, along with Levinson, who is also a director. Additional executive producers include Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, Will Greenfield, Ashley Levinson, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, and Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein.
