Gillian Anderson Open to Returning as Scully in Ryan Coogler’s X-Files Reboot
Original series creator Chris Carter endorses Coogler’s vision for a modern, diverse take on the iconic sci-fi series.

Gillian Anderson, renowned for her portrayal of FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the iconic sci-fi series The X-Files, has expressed openness to participating in the upcoming reboot helmed by acclaimed director Ryan Coogler.
During an appearance on ITV1’s This Morning, Anderson shared insights into her conversation with Coogler, stating, “I spoke to him, and what I said was, ‘If anyone were to do it, I think you are the perfect person and best of luck, call me.’” She added, “At some point, if the phone rings and it’s good and it feels like the right time — perhaps.”
Coogler, known for directing Black Panther and Creed, confirmed his involvement in the reboot during an interview on The Last Podcast on the Left. He expressed enthusiasm about the project, aiming to deliver episodes that are “really f—ing scary” and appealing to both longtime fans and new audiences.
