Gal Gadot Reflects on Snow White’s Box Office Struggles

Actress says multiple factors, including public pressures, contributed to Disney’s costly live-action flop

In a recent interview on Israeli program The A Talks, Gal Gadot spoke candidly about the underwhelming performance of Disney’s live-action Snow White. The film, starring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gadot as the Evil Queen, ultimately recorded a global box office loss of over $100 million despite high expectations.

Gadot explained that she thoroughly enjoyed filming and valued her on-set rapport with Zegler, saying they shared “laughter, conversation, and fun” during the shoot. She admitted she was confident the movie would be a major success at the time of production.

However, the actress noted that the timing of the release and heightened public pressures on celebrities influenced how the film was received. She described being disappointed that external issues overshadowed the movie and contributed to its commercial struggles.

After her comments drew attention, Gadot clarified that she did not believe political circumstances were the sole reason for the box-office outcome. She emphasized that many elements determine a film’s success, including marketing, audience connection, and critical reception.

The film’s release had already been clouded by several controversies, from debates around casting to questions about creative direction. Disney scaled back its promotional campaign, and the project failed to generate the cultural momentum usually associated with the studio’s fairy-tale remakes.

Despite the disappointment, Gadot maintained that she cherished the experience of working on Snow White and stood by the film’s creative vision.
