From Raw Talent to Global Stardom: Guddu Dhanoa Recalls Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Early Days

Director remembers Chopra’s dedication and growth as an actor

Guddu Dhanoa, the director behind Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ films “Big Brother” and “Kismat,” recently shared his experience working with the actress in her early days. Dhanoa praised Chopra Jonas’ dedication and raw talent, highlighting how she overcame initial challenges to become a global star.

Dhanoa revealed that during the filming of “Big Brother” in 2002-2003, he was unaware it was one of Chopra Jonas’ first films. He fondly remembers her enthusiasm and willingness to learn, despite her inexperience. “She would say, ‘Please explain to me, how do I do it,'” Dhanoa recalls, showcasing her hunger to improve.

However, the filming wasn’t without its hurdles. After initial shooting, Dhanoa received criticism about Chopra Jonas’ acting from Mumbai. “We saw the rushes…and after watching them, Sunny Deol and I, both of us decided that we would work with this girl,” Dhanoa says. They saw her potential and believed in her growth.

Dhanoa’s faith paid off. Chopra Jonas blossomed into a successful actress. “Today, everyone knows the rest of the history,” he says proudly. He also shared a heartwarming anecdote about Chopra Jonas inviting him to her wedding reception, showcasing her grounded nature despite her immense fame.

Dhanoa concludes by commending Chopra Jonas’ work ethic and talent. “She grew very quickly…I say, acting is a key that can be put in your hand even on the first day…She grew very quickly, she is fantastic.”
