Focus Features Announces Release Date For Jeff Nichols’ ‘The Bikeriders’

American film production and distribution company Focus Features has announced a release date for ‘The Bikeriders,’ directed by Jeff Nichols.
The crime/thriller, starring Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Tom Hardy, will have its theatrical release on June 21, 2024. The movie first premiered as the opening film of the 50th Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2023.
The movie was initially intended for a December 1, 2023, theatrical release by 20th Century Studios, but it was pulled from the schedule because of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, which restricted the cast from promotion. Following this, it was reported on November 20, that year, that New Regency was offering the movie to rival studios and streaming services for release instead, and only two days later, Focus Features obtained global distribution rights to the movie, with its parent Universal Pictures distributing internationally.
‘The Bikeriders’ is inspired by the 1967 namesake photo-book, Danny Lyon, portraying the lives of the Outlaws MC, a mainly Chicago-based motorcycle club. The plot of the movie traces the establishment of a fictional Chicago motorcycle club in the 1960s. Over the course of a decade, the club transforms from a gathering spot for local outsiders into a more dangerous gang, threatening the original group’s distinctive way of life.
The cast of ‘The Bikeriders’ also includes Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, Norman Reedus, Boyd Holbrook, Damon Herriman, Beau Knapp, Emory Cohen, Karl Glusman, Toby Wallace, and Happy Anderson.
