Emraan Hashmi Praises Ranbir Kapoor’s Convincing Performance in “Animal

Actor Reflects on His Own Career and Industry Typecasting

Ranbir Kapoor joined forces with Sandeep Reddy Vanga for the mega-blockbuster action-drama film “Animal.” The film received immense love from the audience and critics alike, with its impact resonating even a year after its theatrical release.

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has also lauded Kapoor’s performance, commending him for his portrayal of a complex character with such conviction.

Hashmi, who began his acting career with “Footpath” in 2003, gained fame with his 2004 erotic thriller “Murder.” Over two decades in the industry, he has continued to showcase his versatility, most recently playing the antagonist Aatish Rehman in “Tiger 3,” alongside Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.

While busy with other projects, Hashmi took time for a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, where he spoke highly of Ranbir Kapoor and “Animal.” Hashmi admitted he had not watched any of Kapoor’s films from his earlier ‘chocolate boy’ phase but was deeply impressed by Kapoor’s performance in “Animal.” He remarked, “I have watched ‘Animal’ and I think it’s commendable how he played a character with gray shades and is not easy to like, with such conviction. This is commendable.”

In the same interview, Hashmi discussed being labeled and typecast as the ‘serial kisser’ of Bollywood. He noted that many artists face this issue, where a particular image becomes their trademark and is hard to shake off. He cited examples of other Bollywood megastars, noting that Shah Rukh Khan is still known for his open-arms pose, Salman Khan for his shirtless scenes, and Anil Kapoor for his iconic ‘Jhakaas’ dialogue.

After a cameo in Sara Ali Khan’s “Ae Watan Mere Watan,” Emraan Hashmi has been busy with two upcoming South Indian films.
