Emmys May Get Delayed Due to Writers Strike
The Hollywood Writers’ strike has been a relevant, pressing matter since the beginning. However, it seems to have ruffled more feathers than anticipated.
The Television Academy, which administers the esteemed award show Emmys, and Fox, which is broadcasting this year’s ceremony, have been discussing contingencies as the Hollywood Writers’ strike goes beyond 50 days. One such contingency plan involves delaying this year’s ceremony altogether.
The Television Academy and Fox did not make a comment in this context, and since no final decisions have been announced, any additional contingency plans could be opted for.
The ceremony and live telecast of Emmy Awards 2023 is slated to be held on September 18. The voting for the 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards is open till June 26, and its nominations will be declared on July 12. However, we are yet to know for sure when and how the winners will receive their honors if the strike continues.
If the postponement of the Emmy Awards takes place, it would be marked as the latest and one of the most significant disruptions for Hollywood since the strike began.
The television industry’s most prestigious award show is usually held in August or September. Previously, in 2001, the Emmys were postponed to November following the 9/11 attacks.
