Deepika Padukone Opens Up About Life After Motherhood: ‘Still Finding My Way’

At the opening session of WAVES 2025 in Mumbai, actress Deepika Padukone offered a rare glimpse into her personal life as a new mother. Speaking alongside Shah Rukh Khan, she shared her honest reflections on embracing motherhood after the birth of her daughter, Dua, with husband Ranveer Singh in September 2024.

Deepika admitted that the transition hasn’t been easy. “I’m still discovering what this new life looks like after becoming a mother,” she said. “When you’ve lived independently for so long—chasing your dreams, traveling, working nonstop—everything revolves around you. But once you have a child, your entire focus shifts. You’re suddenly responsible for another life.”

Though she described motherhood as something she’s always dreamed of, Deepika acknowledged the ongoing process of adjustment. “It’s a role I deeply cherish, but I’m still figuring out what this version of life means. That little person now comes before anything else—and I haven’t quite figured out how to balance that yet.”

During the same session, Shah Rukh Khan offered heartfelt praise, saying, “I hope I’m not overstepping, but I believe the role Deepika will shine in most—Inshallah—is that of a mother. I truly think she’s going to be a wonderful mother to Dua.”

Deepika’s candidness struck a chord with fans, offering a more personal perspective from an actress known for keeping her private life largely out of the spotlight.
