Deepika and Ranveer Light Up Screens in Singham Again Without Sharing a Scene
Director Rohit Shetty reveals why the iconic couple avoided on-screen interaction, preserving respect for cultural themes while celebrating cinematic chemistry.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, one of Bollywood’s most cherished real-life couples, have also created memorable on-screen chemistry. Their sizzling dynamic was first showcased in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013), paralleling their off-screen romance. When news broke that the couple, now proud parents to their daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, would reunite on-screen in Singham Again, excitement ran high. However, director Rohit Shetty shared an unexpected twist: despite appearing in the same film, Deepika and Ranveer’s characters do not share a single scene together.
In an interview with News 18, Shetty explained, “Even for Ranveer’s character, there’s no conversation he has with Deepika’s character. We did this carefully so that no one felt disrespected. Otherwise, we would’ve loved to bring them together in a playful scene.” Shetty elaborated that since Ranveer’s role reflects the essence of Hanuman, any interaction with Deepika’s character could have been misinterpreted. “There’s playful banter between Ranveer and Akshay [Kumar], and we could’ve done the same with Ranveer and Deepika, but it needed to align with the story’s tone,” he added.
This thoughtful choice extended to the film’s music, where background tracks were chosen over singing, ensuring no cultural sentiments were compromised. Singham Again seamlessly weaves elements from the Ramayana, drawing acclaim for its respectful adaptation. The film has resonated deeply, crossing the ₹200 crore mark—a testament to Shetty’s careful direction and dedication to storytelling.
