Dear Comrade Hindi Remake Buzz Grows, But Casting Speculation Hits a Pause
Dharma Productions’ long-planned adaptation of the 2019 Telugu hit makes headlines again, even as Pratibha Ranta urges caution and Siddhant Chaturvedi distances himself from remake rumours.

Buzz around Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions seems to be picking up once again, with industry chatter suggesting that the banner is revisiting the Hindi remake of the popular Telugu film Dear Comrade. The production house had acquired the remake rights back in 2019, soon after the original film’s release, but the project remained on the back burner for several years. Now, fresh reports claim that discussions have resumed, sparking renewed curiosity about the film’s future.
According to recent speculation, actors Siddhant Chaturvedi and Pratibha Ranta were being considered for the lead roles. Insiders were quoted as saying that Dharma wanted to crack the right emotional tone and casting before moving ahead, and that Siddhant’s intense screen presence and Pratibha’s grounded performances made them suitable choices for the reimagined version. The Hindi adaptation, as per these reports, is expected to retain the emotional core of the original while being reshaped for a contemporary, pan-India audience rather than functioning as a scene-by-scene remake.
However, the growing rumours prompted a clear response from Pratibha Ranta. Taking to social media on January 2, 2026, the actress requested media pages and fans to refrain from circulating unverified information. She pointed out that she has often been linked to projects she is not officially part of, which leads to unnecessary confusion. While thanking her supporters, she stressed the importance of waiting for formal announcements instead of relying on speculation.
Adding further clarity to the situation, Siddhant Chaturvedi has reportedly denied being part of the remake, stating that he is no longer interested in doing remakes. While he expressed admiration for Dear Comrade as a film and respect for its original cast and makers, he made it clear that the circulating reports about his involvement are not accurate.
Originally released in 2019, Dear Comrade starred Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna and was directed by Bharat Kamma. The film told the story of an aggressive young man and a state-level cricketer whose love story is tested by anger, emotional trauma, and conflicting ideals. Despite receiving mixed reviews at the box office, the film developed a strong fan following, particularly for its music and emotionally charged performances, and went on to become a cult favourite among audiences.
As of now, Dharma Productions has not issued any official statement regarding the Hindi remake, its cast, or a production timeline. Until that happens, the project remains firmly in the realm of speculation — a reminder of how quickly casting rumours can gain traction, and how essential official confirmation is in an industry driven by constant buzz.
