Callum Turner and Riley Keough Join Star-Studded Cast of Karim Aïnouz’s Rosebush Pruning
Replacing Kristen Stewart and Josh O’Connor, Turner and Keough Lead a Stellar Ensemble in Aïnouz’s Bold Adaptation of Fists in the Pocket as Filming Begins in Spain

Callum Turner and Riley Keough have officially joined the cast of Karim Aïnouz’s latest film Rosebush Pruning, stepping in for Kristen Stewart and Josh O’Connor, who were originally attached to the project alongside Elle Fanning. Fanning remains committed to her role, and the new cast additions have been announced as filming kicks off in Spain.
The casting change, attributed to scheduling conflicts, comes as Stewart is deeply involved in the post-production of her long-anticipated directorial effort, The Chronology of Water, a passion project of hers.
Joining the ensemble alongside Masters of the Air star Turner and Daisy Jones & The Six actress Keough are newly announced cast members Jamie Bell (All of Us Strangers), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus, Euphoria), Tracy Letts (Lady Bird, Ford vs Ferrari), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), and Pamela Anderson, who is experiencing a cinematic resurgence following her role in The Last Showgirl.
Initially introduced under the working title Rosebushpruning, the film is a contemporary adaptation of Marco Bellocchio’s 1965 psychological drama Fists in the Pocket. Aïnouz, who recently directed Firebrand, is helming the project from a script by Efthimis Filippou, known for his work on The Killing of a Sacred Deer and The Lobster.
“I’m thrilled to bring this audacious and thought-provoking script to life. It boldly explores themes of family dynamics and challenges the patriarchy, all with a phenomenal group of actors that I deeply admire,” said Aïnouz.
Produced by Viola Fügen and Michael Weber for The Match Factory, which is handling global sales, the film’s adaptation rights were secured from Bellocchio’s production company, Kavac Film. Simone Gattoni, CEO of Kavac Film, is producing alongside Annamaria Morelli for The Apartment. Additional co-producers include Andreas Wentz and Juan Cano “Nono” from Surfilm in Spain, as well as Rachel Dargavel for Crybaby in the UK.
