Arjun Kapoor Set to Play Villain in ‘Singham Again’: A Gamble Backed by Rohit Shetty’s Faith

Arjun Kapoor, who burst onto the Bollywood scene with Ishaqzaade in 2012, has seen both highs and lows in his career. While some of his films have been box office hits, recent performances haven’t met expectations. However, Kapoor’s career may be getting a fresh boost, as filmmaker Rohit Shetty has cast him as the antagonist in the much-anticipated action film Singham Again.
When asked about Shetty’s decision to bring Kapoor on board despite the actor’s recent setbacks, filmmaker and writer Milap Zaveri revealed the director’s reasoning. “Rohit saw raw talent and passion in Arjun. He believed that all Arjun needed was the right project to showcase his potential,” Zaveri explained in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. “That’s Rohit’s brilliance—he places his trust in people when others don’t. We’ll see the impact of that trust when the film releases.”
Zaveri, who wrote the dialogues for Singham Again, also shared his personal experience with Shetty. He recounted how the director offered him a chance to work on the project, even after the underwhelming reception of Satyameva Jayate 2. “Rohit is not only one of the biggest names in Indian cinema but also someone who supports people regardless of their career phase. He brings a unique energy to the set, and the entire crew respects him for that,” Zaveri added.
According to Zaveri, Shetty’s decision to cast Kapoor wasn’t just a creative choice but a reflection of the director’s belief in people. “Rohit welcomed Arjun into his cinematic family, confident that he would add value to the film. That belief will come through on the screen,” Zaveri concluded.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see Kapoor’s new avatar in Singham Again—a role that could mark a turning point in his career.
