Apple TV+ cancels ‘City On Fire’ after Season One

Deadline reported that Apple TV+ announced that the American crime drama television series, ‘City On Fire,’ won’t be renewed for a second season.

The announcement was made a month and a half later Season 1 concluded with its eighth episode.

According to Deadline, the cancelation of the series, created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, based on the namesake novel by Garth Risk Hallberg, is not a shocker as it did not receive the same hype as other recent Apple TV+ series like ‘Silo’ and ‘Hijack.’

The series follows the story of Samantha Yeung, who was shot in Central Park, New York City, on July 4, 2003, and the investigation into her shooting uncovers the binding connection between a series of mysterious city-wide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family unraveling under the pressure of the many secrets they keep.

The cast of the series includes Wyatt Oleff, Chase Sui Wonders, Jemima Kirke, Nico Tortorella, Ashley Zukerman, Xavier Clyde, Max Milner, Alexandra Doke, Omid Abtahi, and Kathleen Munroe.

‘City On Fire’ also starred John Cameron Mitchell, Michael Tow, Alexander Pineiro, Amel Khalil, Beth Malone, and Geoff Pierson.

Along with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Lis Rowinski and Jesse Peretz also serve as executive producers.
