Apple and Skydance Announce High-Stakes Collaboration ‘Fountain of Youth’ Starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman

Directed by Guy Ritchie

In the wake of the triumph of last month’s hit film, “The Family Plan,” Apple Original Films and Skydance are joining forces once again for a major project. According to Deadline, industry stalwarts John Krasinski and Natalie Portman are slated to headline the upcoming blockbuster, “Fountain of Youth,” under the direction of the renowned filmmaker Guy Ritchie. Serving as the studio, Skydance Media will produce the film for Apple, with collaborative efforts from Vinson Films and Project X Entertainment.

The collaboration, born out of the first-look partnership between Apple and Skydance Media, sees “Fountain of Youth” being produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger. Producers Tripp Vinson and Project X Entertainment, along with Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein, are also integral to the production. Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, and Jake Myers are actively involved in the project, with Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella) serving as executive producers.

Skydance had earmarked “Fountain of Youth” as a top priority after receiving an awe-inspiring script from Vanderbilt. The studio eagerly awaited the right combination of talent before pushing ahead with the film. Ritchie and Krasinski had expressed interest in the project earlier, but external factors had momentarily stalled progress. With both strikes settled and commitments from the lead actors secured, the stage is set for Portman to join the cast, with filming scheduled for the first quarter of this year.

This announcement follows the tremendous success of Apple and Skydance’s collaboration on “The Family Plan,” which starred Mark Wahlberg and became the largest film premiere on Apple TV+. The partnership continues to showcase a robust lineup, featuring high-profile titles such as the genre-bending action film “The Gorge,” starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, and the recently unveiled action-adventure film “Mayday,” headlined by Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh.

John Krasinski is currently in post-production for “IF” at Paramount, a project where he serves as writer, director, producer, and actor. The film, set to release theatrically in May, boasts a stellar cast including Reynolds, Cailey Fleming, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Fiona Shaw, Lou Gossett Jr, and Steve Carell. Paramount positions “IF” as one of its major releases for 2024.

Natalie Portman, reuniting with Apple after signing a first-look TV deal for her production company MountainA, is set to make her TV acting debut in the Apple Original limited series “Lady in the Lake.” Ritchie, who directed the critically acclaimed “A Quiet Place” in 2019, has been maintaining a busy schedule. Meanwhile, Radio Silence, part of the current project, experienced success with “Scream VI,” the top-grossing film in the franchise’s history.

Represented by CAA and Attorney George Sheanshang, Portman continues her productive collaboration with Apple. Krasinski, represented by WME and Schreck Rose Dapello Adams Berlin & Dunham, is making waves with his multifaceted involvement in “IF.” Ritchie, represented by WME, remains a sought-after director, and Vanderbilt, represented by WME, continues to be a prominent screenwriter. Radio Silence is represented by UTA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, capping off a noteworthy year with their contribution to the successful “Scream” franchise.
