Amazon Pulls Plug on ‘Citadel’ Spin-Offs ‘Honey Bunny’ and ‘Diana’

Storylines to Merge into Main Series as Season 2 Eyes 2026 Release

Amazon Prime Video has officially cancelled its international spin-offs of the Citadel franchise—Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana—after just one season each. Despite garnering strong local responses in India and Italy, both series failed to achieve global success. Honey Bunny, directed by Raj & DK and starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, explored the backstory of Nadia Sinh’s parents.

Meanwhile, Diana, led by Matilda De Angelis, followed a Citadel agent embedded within Manticore eight years after the agency’s collapse. The decision to cancel these spin-offs is part of a strategic shift by Amazon to consolidate its storytelling efforts

Vernon Sanders, Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, confirmed that narratives from both spin-offs will be integrated into the upcoming second season of the main Citadel series. “The Indian and Italian shows will not continue as individual series,” he stated, but assured that the upcoming season will be their “most exhilarating” yet. Season 2 of Citadel, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, is now slated for release in 2026, following a delay from its initial 2025 schedule
