Alia Bhatt Steps into Protective ‘Jigra’ Mode, Inspired by Motherhood

Alia Bhatt continues to evolve as an artist with every film she takes on. Her upcoming project, Jigra, promises to showcase yet another facet of her talent, this time deeply connected to her personal life. During a candid conversation with Karan Johar, the actress revealed that her decision to sign the Vasan Bala-directed film was strongly influenced by her experience as a mother to daughter Raha. In the film, Alia plays the role of a fiercely protective older sister to Vedang Raina’s character.
With a stellar cast that includes Aditya Nanda, Manoj Pahwa, and Rahul Ravindran alongside Alia and Vedang, Jigra has been generating considerable buzz. The Raazi star is also co-producing the film with Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Shaheen Bhatt, and Somen Mishra.
Alia recently reunited with her RRR co-star, Jr NTR, in an interview led by Karan Johar, where she reflected on how becoming a mother has transformed her. Discussing her connection to Jigra, she shared, “When I signed Jigra, I was in full-on tigress mode. I felt the need to protect, especially after Raha’s birth, and that was the energy I brought into the role. I always say destiny and timing play a big part in the projects that come your way.” Alia emphasized how the timing of the film aligned perfectly with her state of mind, making it a project close to her heart.
