Akshay Kumar Wraps ‘Bhooth Bangla’ in Kerala; Discusses ‘OMG 3’ Plans with Director Amit Rai
While filming a song for Priyadarshan’s horror comedy, Akshay Kumar used his Kerala trip to brainstorm ‘OMG 3’ with director Amit Rai, aiming for a 2026 release.

Filming for Bhooth Bangla, the much-awaited horror-comedy directed by Priyadarshan and starring Akshay Kumar, officially wrapped up on May 17, 2025. The final leg of the shoot included a vibrant song sequence filmed in the scenic locales of Kerala, where Akshay was joined by co-star Wamiqa Gabbi.
Interestingly, the filming schedule took an unexpected turn when director Amit Rai—known for helming OMG 2—traveled with Akshay to Kerala over the weekend. Sources reveal that Rai used this opportunity to initiate early discussions around Oh My God 3, the third installment in the hit courtroom dramedy franchise.
According to insiders, Amit Rai presented multiple concepts and story ideas for OMG 3 during the trip. He and Akshay reportedly had an in-depth discussion on the film’s direction, tone, and narrative structure. Their creative brainstorming was productive, with Akshay showing enthusiasm for the new vision. He’s now waiting to read Rai’s first draft.

Given the massive success of OMG and OMG 2, expectations are sky-high for the next chapter. Producers are reportedly keen to ensure that the third film lives up to the franchise’s reputation and are taking a cautious, deliberate approach to its development. “They’re not rushing the process,” a source confirmed, “because this film carries a big responsibility.”
If development progresses smoothly, OMG 3 is likely to hit cinemas in the second half of 2026. Like its predecessors, the film will blend social commentary with courtroom drama. Casting will begin once the script is finalized.
