Aishwarya Rajinikanth Reflects on Unpredictable Impact of Viral Trends in Showbiz

During the promotion of her latest film, “Lal Salaam,” director Aishwarya Rajinikanth shared insights into the volatile nature of viral trends in the entertainment industry. Reflecting on the aftermath of the viral sensation “Why This Kolaveri Di?” from her debut movie “3” (2012), Rajinikanth disclosed that the unexpected uproar brought forth more challenges than benefits.
Rajinikanth revealed that despite the song’s immense popularity, it initiated an unforeseen cycle of controversy, shifting the focus away from the film and onto other unrelated aspects. Attempting to redirect attention back to “3,” the overwhelming success of “Kolaveri Di” overshadowed the film’s central themes and narrative.
After grappling with the initial frustration, Rajinikanth admitted that she eventually found solace in the significant boost it provided to individual careers, particularly that of Dhanush. The actor gained global recognition owing to the infectious blend of Tamil and English lyrics in the song, attracting millions of viewers worldwide.
Although “Kolaveri Di” initially stole the spotlight, “3” received acclaim over time for its portrayal of love and mental health issues, with commendable performances by Dhanush and Shruti Haasan. The song, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, continued to garner attention through reissues and television productions, unexpectedly propelling Dhanush to international fame and elevating his status as a global icon.
