Aftab Shivdasani Returns to Comedy with All-Star Cast in Welcome to the Jungle

Reflecting on his journey, Aftab shares his excitement about reuniting with Akshay Kumar and director Ahmed Khan, as well as the thrill of performing with a cast of 25+ stars in this mega-comedy.

Actor Aftab Shivdasani is thrilled to be back in the comedy genre with his upcoming film, Welcome to the Jungle. Known for his success in comedic roles, Aftab shares that working in comedy brings unique joys and challenges. “Comedy as a genre is so enjoyable when you’re working with people you have chemistry with. But it’s not easy to do,” he says.

In this new multi-starrer film, Aftab joins an ensemble cast, including Bollywood heavyweights like Akshay Kumar. Reflecting on his long-standing professional relationship with Kumar, he notes, “Working with Akshay has always been a pleasure; we’ve done so many films together, and it’s always fun.”

Directed by Ahmed Khan, Welcome to the Jungle features an impressive 25-30 actors, including Tusshar Kapoor, Johnny Lever, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Disha Patani. Aftab describes the experience of filming with such a large group: “At any given moment, there were 15-20 of us on set. It’s going to be exciting for audiences to see this star-studded cast all together.”

Interestingly, Aftab’s relationship with director Ahmed Khan dates back to their days as child actors in Mr. India (1987). “We’ve shared a great bond since then,” Aftab recalls. “After Mr. India, we worked together as actor and choreographer, but Welcome to the Jungle is our first project as actor and director—37 years later.”
