Abhishek Bachchan’s Journey from Self-Doubt to Stardom: Lessons from Big B
How Amitabh Bachchan’s Wise Words Helped His Son Rekindle His Acting Career

Abhishek Bachchan’s cinematic journey began with promise, as his debut film Refugee grew into a classic over the years. However, the road to success was far from smooth. At one point, his career hit a rough patch where his movies failed to perform, and he found himself questioning his abilities as an actor.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Abhishek opened up about this challenging phase. “Critics were panning my performances, no matter who I worked with,” he revealed. Despite collaborating with some of the most acclaimed filmmakers, he couldn’t seem to find his footing. Frustrated and disheartened, he approached his father, the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, to confess his doubts. “In a weaker moment, I told him, ‘I think I made a big mistake. Maybe I’m not cut out for this,’” Abhishek admitted.
Instead of comforting him as a father, Amitabh offered advice as a senior actor. “You’re nowhere near the finished product. You have a lot of improving to do,” he told his son, emphasizing that growth comes with persistence. He encouraged Abhishek to embrace every opportunity, regardless of the role, and keep honing his craft. “There’s a good actor inside you. How good you become depends on how hard you work,” Amitabh advised.
Taking his father’s words to heart, Abhishek stopped being selective and took on every role that came his way. With consistent effort, his confidence grew, and eventually, he began to shine at the box office once again. Today, he stands tall as a leading man in the industry, a testament to resilience, hard work, and his father’s invaluable guidance.
