Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a name synonymous with stellar performances, has carved his niche in the film industry with memorable roles in acclaimed movies like “Black Friday,” “Kahaani,” and “Gangs of Wasseypur.”
However, Siddiqui’s journey commenced with a modest role in the Aamir Khan-led “Sarfarosh” in 1999. In a recent interview, the versatile actor reminisced about his initial encounter with the Bollywood stalwart. Let’s delve deeper!
Having debuted alongside Aamir Khan in “Sarfarosh,” Siddiqui reunited with the megastar in the 2012 thriller “Talaash: The Answer Lies Within,” portraying the character of Tehmur Langda, a role that garnered him multiple Best Supporting Actor accolades.
During a candid conversation with ANI, Nawazuddin Siddiqui fondly recalled his experiences of collaborating with Aamir in both these cinematic ventures. Describing it as an “extraordinary journey,” the “Tiku Weds Sheru” actor expressed, “Sharing the screen with Aamir in both ‘Sarfarosh’ and ‘Talaash’ has been nothing short of extraordinary. Off-camera, our camaraderie was equally profound, brimming with mutual respect and an unspoken camaraderie.”
He further lauded Aamir’s unwavering dedication and passion for his craft, labeling it as truly inspirational. “Our conversations often transcended scripts and scenes; we shared a profound love for cinema,” Siddiqui divulged.
This year marks the 25th anniversary since the release of director John Matthew Matthan’s action-packed thriller “Sarfarosh,” where both these gifted actors shared the screen. To commemorate this milestone, a special screening was organized in Mumbai, reuniting the entire cast after several years.
During the event, Khan expressed his long-standing desire to create a sequel to “Sarfarosh.” He stated, “There should be a ‘Sarfarosh 2,’ I strongly feel that. The way we left the film, there was a lingering thought of a sequel in our minds.”
The “Lagaan” star continued, “Even now, I keep urging John (director John Matthew Matthan) to craft a compelling narrative for ‘Sarfarosh 2.’ And this time, he seems keen to explore the possibility.” The potential sequel also features Sonali Bendre in a pivotal role.
